Rameshwar lal was born in Khandel.
Having gained a degree through his own private study he worked
in government departments and the private sector before being selected
for a three year Rural Development Programme in 1976. Following
this he worked in a large NGO in Tiloniya for 5 years during which
time he edited “Bhagat Ri Batt”, a fortnightly paper.
In 1986 he returned to Khandel and established his own NGO, Nirman
Sanstha Khandel, with the aim of improving the lives of those in
his home village and the 25 surrounding villages.
